Practical course: Current topics in Bio-Oceanography: Role of Plastics in the Ocean

Location: Ruder Boskovic Institute, Rovinj, Croatia.

The students become familiar with the problem of plastics in the ocean and their colonization and utlizations by organisms. Plastics are sampled from the sea surface using specific nets towed by a ship. In the lab, samples are analyzed and experiments with plastics under controlled conditions performed. The results of theses research projects are then presented in talks at the end of the course.The course takes place at the Ruder Boskovic Institute for Marine Research at Rovinj, Croatia.
